Add mobility, one step later

Research a documented mobile base after a bench task works.

Not physically tested by Modurobot. LeKiwi uses a different chassis from the villa concepts. No stair climbing, payload or autonomous room-navigation performance is claimed.

BEFORE YOU START

The scope of this version

A research extension for the LeKiwi base, with official assembly and operation documentation. The $179 base listing is not a complete mobile robot: the arm, computer and cameras are additional.

01

Keep the bench baseline

Record the task and results your arm already achieves. A mobile base adds a changing camera view, mounting loads and power requirements; it is a separate validation step.

02

Inspect the base package

Check the selected LeKiwi SKU, battery option and shipping restrictions. Confirm which printed parts, motors, controller and battery are included before budgeting the missing arm, Raspberry Pi and cameras.

03

Use official integration instructions

Follow the LeRobot LeKiwi assembly, computer setup and teleoperation instructions. Match the documented arm mounting and electrical interfaces; do not transfer the full-size villa mast onto this small base.

04

Test supervised driving

Start on a clear, level indoor surface under manual supervision. Record stopping distance, resets and cable/mount movement. Validate stopping and power behavior before carrying an object.

05

Repeat the same task

Use the same object and task as the bench baseline. Record drive and manipulation failures separately, including any human intervention, before comparing software or hardware changes.
